Architecture, Planning and Design

Sandra Vicchio & Associates, LLC is an award winning architecture firm with expertise in planning, programming, architecture and interior design. Located in Baltimore, MD we are an MDOT Certified MBE/SBE/SWAM firm providing architecture, planning, and drafting services. Our work is fully integrated into Building Information Modeling platform.

Ms. Vicchio is personally involved in all projects the firm undertakes. She has focused on projects for cultural facilities for more than a quarter century and has a portfolio in this sector of more than twenty-five projects including recent work for the Enoch Pratt Free Library, National Museum of Women in the Arts, and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. She has developed master plans, programs, conceptual designs, and built projects.

Safeguarding historic artifacts is critical first step to preservation and education. They must be protected and, at the same time, shared. Our team is well versed in the environmental issues that affect museum collections, the 10 agents of deterioration as defined by the Canadian Conservation Institute, concerns regarding the potential effects of climate change, and how to design facilities that both protect and display artifacts for the education and enjoyment of the public.

A core belief of our practice is that the owner is the first member of the design team. Our clients bring knowledge about their physical plants, collections, staff, visitors, and operations that inform all of our projects.

We listen carefully, analyze, critique, and augment the information we learn from our clients, our documentation of existing conditions, and requirements of jurisdictional requirements to lay the foundation for our designs.

Sandra Parsons Vicchio, Principal

Sandra Parsons Vicchio, AIA, NCARB, LEED AP, is a principal architect with more than 30 years of experience in programming, planning, architecture, and design. She works in a collaborative style with clients to find optimal solutions within the constraints of existing conditions, budget, and schedule. Her experience includes cultural institutions, K-12 and higher education, health care, and corporations, particularly those undergoing transformation and change. Her portfolio includes historic preservation, renovation, and new construction encompassing laboratory, office, academic, administrative, visitor center, library, and museum spaces. She has presented her work at national meetings and co-authored a book documenting her students’ work at the UMD College Park.

Michelle Hasson Heinrich, Associate

Michelle Hasson Heinrich, AIA, NCARB, is a registered architect with more than 10 years of experience in programming, planning, architecture, detailing, and the design of buildings. Her experience includes cultural institutions, (libraries, museums), K-12 and higher education, health care, residential, and corporate interiors. She is fully versed in Building Information Modeling, and utilizes the platform to create presentation drawings, construction documents, and “smart” schedules for furniture and equipment. Her portfolio includes new construction, renovations, historic preservation, and interior design work. She is passionate about doing her job well.
